Sea Lion pups are born on a rookery, which is where sea lions breed. They’re looked after by their mother who doesn’t leave them for the first couple of weeks. During this time, she won’t eat. After 15 days she will then go out to sea to hunt for food. Before the hunt, all of the mothers gather their pups and create a daycare nursery. No pup is ever left alone. When the pups grow up, they’ll become incredible swimmers with torpedo-shaped bodies and powerful flippers.

When a sea lion is born it can weigh up to 55 pounds!
